“Julian,” said Jia, in the same gentle voice, “would you do something for us? Would you take up the Mortal Sword?”
Clary sat up straight. She had held the Mortal Sword: she had felt the weight of it. The cold, like hooks in your skin, dragging the truth out of you. You couldn’t lie holding the Mortal Sword, but the truth, even a truth you wanted to tell, was agony.
“They can’t,” she whispered. “He’s just a kid —“
“He’s the oldest of the kids who escaped the Institute,” Jace said under his breath. “They don’t have a choice.”
Julian nodded, his thin shoulders straight. “I’ll take it.”
Robert Lightwood passed behind the podium then and went to the table. He took up the sword and returned to stand in front of Julian. The contrast between them was almost funny: the big, barrel-chested man and the lanky, wild-haired boy.
Julian reached a hand up and took the sword. As his hand closed around the hilt, he shuddered, a ripple of pain that was quickly forced down. Emma, behind him, started forward, and Clary caught a glimpse of the look on her face — pure fury — before Helen caught at her and pulled her back.

parabatai. Like he was. And Jace knew, too, what that faded rune meant: a parabatai whose other half was dead. He felt his sympathy leap toward Brother Zachariah, as he imagined himself without Alec, with only that faded rune to remind him where once he had been bonded to someone who knew all the best and worst parts of his soul.
I was wondering when Brother Zachariah would come in. If you don't know why I say that you need to read the Infernal Devises series.

The Frays had never been a religiously observant family, but Clary loved Fifth Avenue at Christmas time. The air smelled like sweet roasted chestnuts, and the window displays sparkled with silver and blue, green and red. This year there were fat round crystal snowflakes attached to each lamppost, sending back the winter sunlight in shafts of gold[B1] . Not to mention the huge tree at Rockefeller Center. It threw its shadow across them as she and Simon draped themselves over the gate at the side of the skating rink, watching tourists fall down as they tried to navigate the ice.
Clary had a hot chocolate wrapped in her hands, the warmth spreading through her body. She felt almost normal—this, coming to Fifth to see the window displays and the tree, had been a winter tradition for her and Simon for as long as she could remember.
“Feels like old times, doesn’t it?” he said, echoing her thoughts as he propped his chin on his folded arms.
She chanced a sideways look at him. He was wearing a black topcoat and scarf that emphasized the winter pallor of his skin. His eyes were shadowed, indicating that he hadn’t fed on blood recently. He looked like what he was—a hungry, tired vampire.
Well, she thought. Almost like old times. “More people to buy presents for,” she said. “Plus, the always traumatic what-to-buy-someone-for-the-first-Christmas-after-you’ve-started-dating question.”
“What to get the Shadowhunter who has everything,” Simon said with a grin.
“Jace mostly likes weapons,” Clary sighed. “He likes books, but they have a huge library at the Institute. He likes classical music …” She brightened. Simon was a musician; even though his band was terrible, and was always changing their name—currently they were Lethal SoufflĂ©—he did have training. “What would you give someone who likes to play the piano?”
“A piano.”
Simon.”
“A really huge metronome that could also double as a weapon?”
Clary sighed, exasperated.
“Sheet music. Rachmaninoff is tough stuff, but he likes a challenge.”
“Now you’re talking. I’m going to see if there’s a music store around here.” Clary, done with her hot chocolate, tossed the cup into a nearby trash can and pulled her phone out. “What about you? What are you giving Isabelle?”
“I have absolutely no idea,” Simon said. They had started heading toward the avenue, where a steady stream of pedestrians gawking at the windows clogged the streets.
“Oh, come on. Isabelle’s easy.”
“That’s my girlfriend you’re talking about.” Simon’s brows drew together. “I think. I’m not sure. We haven’t discussed it. The relationship, I mean.”
“You really have to DTR, Simon.”
“What?”
“Define the relationship. What it is, where it’s going. Are you boyfriend and girlfriend, just having fun, ‘it’s complicated,’ or what? When’s she going to tell her parents? Are you allowed to see other people?”
Simon blanched. “What? Seriously?”
“Seriously. In the meantime—perfume!” Clary grabbed Simon by the back of his coat and hauled him into a cosmetics store that had once been a bank. It was massive on the inside, with rows of gleaming bottles everywhere. “And something unusual,” she said, heading for the fragrance area. “Isabelle isn’t going to want to smell like everyone else. She’s going to want to smell like figs, or vetiver, or—”
“Figs? Figs have a smell?” Simon looked horrified; Clary was about to laugh at him when her phone buzzed. It was her mother.
where are you? It’s an emergency.

The first chapter title is called Simon's  Sacrifice!
She turned to look at Sebastian, lying on the bed. He was shirtless, and even in the dim light the old whip weals across his back were visible. She had always been fascinated by Shadowhunters but had never thought she would find one whose personality she could stand for more than five minutes, until Sebastian.

Jace confronts magnas
Magnus rolled onto his back and put his feet up on the arm of the sofa. “What do you care if Alec’s miserable?”
“What do I care?” Jace said, so loudly that Chairman Meow rolled off the couch and landed on the floor. “Of course I care about Alec; he’s my best friend, my parabatai. And he’s unhappy. And so are you, by the look of things. Takeout containers everywhere, you haven’t done anything to fix up the place, your cat looks dead —“
“He’s not dead.”
We shouldn’t,” protested Isabelle. “The Clave has a plan.”
“The Clave has the collective intelligence of a pineapple,” said Jace.
Alec blinked up at them. “Jace is right.”
Isabelle turned on her brother. “What do you know? You weren’t even paying attention.”
“I was,” Alec said, injured. “I said Jace was right.”
“Yeah, but there’s like a 90% chance of me being right most of the time, so that’s not proof you were listening,” said Jace. “That’s just a good guess."

***

Alec looked down at the shattered pieces in disbelief. “You BROKE my PHONE.”
Jace shrugged. “Guys don’t let other guys keep calling other guys. Okay, that came out wrong. Friends don’t let friends keep calling their exes and hanging up. Seriously. You have to stop.”
Alec looked furious. “So you broke my brand new phone? Thanks a lot.”
Jace smiled serenely and lay back on the grass. “You’re welcome.”

I think,” Jace said, “that you don’t want to tell your secrets, so you decided to break up with Alec because..”

***

No killing,” Jordan said. “We’re trying to make you feel peaceful, so you don’t go up in flames. Blood, killing, war, those are all non-peaceful things. Isn’t there anything else you like? Rainforests? Chirping birds?”
“Weapons,” said Jace. “I like weapons.”
“I’m starting to think we have a problematic issue of personal philosophy here.”
Jace leaned forward, his palms flat on the ground. “I’m a warrior,” he said. “I was brought up as a warrior. I didn’t have toys, I had weapons. I slept with a wooden sword until I was five. My first books were medieval demonologies with illuminated pages. The first songs I learned were chants to banish demons. I know what brings me peace, and it isn’t sandy beaches or chirping birds in rainforests. I want a weapon in my hand and a strategy to win.”
Jordan looked at him levelly. “So you’re saying that what brings you peace … is war.”
“Now you get it.”

***

“We shouldn’t,” protested Isabelle.
“That’s just a good guess.

“Simon,” said a voice at his shoulder, and he turned to see Izzy, her face a pale smudge between dark hair and dark cloak, looking at him, her expression half-angry, half-sad. “I guess this is the part where we say goodbye?”

half blood teaser

Thank the gods Deacon was alone. If I walked in on him one more time half naked, I was going to have to let a Furie gorge my eyes out.

My younger brother was sprawled across the bed, face down, clothing rumbled and a flask beside him, seeping only the gods know what he’d been drinking into the mattress. Without further adieu, I kicked the post on the bed. Hard.

“What?” Deacon mumbled into the blanket. “The bathroom is down the hall…or go outside. Whatever.”

“I know where the bathroom is, asshat. This is my house.”

Deacon froze and then let a loud sigh as he rolled onto his back, squinting up at me. He smiled—actually smiled at me. The only trait we really shared was the eyes, but his gray ones were muddled. “Hey, bro, welcome back.”

I wanted to take him outside and dump him in the ocean. Hold him under until Poseidon kicked us out.

This one is Aiden's pov
Catching one of her hands, I spun around and clamped her arms to her sides. She bent forward, trying to kick me. No good deed goes unpunished… I moved out the way. “Don’t,” I warned, speaking directly into her ear. “I don’t want to hurt you.”

Her breathing was harsh, broken as she struggled like we were one the ones who'd put her through hell. The string of curses she put together was actually quite impressive and would’ve been entertaining if they hadn’t been directed at me.

***
This one is from Aiden's pov also
"Shut up!" she screamed, gathering up the last of her strength, breaking free of my grasp only because I hadn't held her tight enough to hurt her.
Alex dodged Kain and Leon, who'd stood by, looking equally shocked and amused. Her long, stringy hair flew out from behind her as she picked up speed, heading for the exit.

Kain smirked. "Well, this has gone as expected.

 I sighed, "I'll get her."

"Make sure you don't break her or anything," Leon said. " I doubt her stepfather would appreciate that."

maximum ride, schools out- forever

"Adventure, fighting, backstabbing and love abound" In this action-packed follow-up to the #1 New York Times blockbuster MAXIMUM RIDE:THE ANGEL EXPERIMENT, now available in paperback. The heart- stopping quest of six winged kids--led by fourteen-year-old Max-- to find their parents and investigate the mind-blowing mystery of their ultimate destiny continues when they're taken under the wing of an FBI agent and attempt, for the first time, to live " normal"  lives, but going to school and making friends doesn't stop them from being relentlessly hunted by sinister spies, who lead Max to face her most frightening  match yet: a new and better version of herself.

My thoughts
Fang, Max, Iggy, Gazzy, Nudge , and Angel are on the move again. This is the second book of the Maximum Ride series, by James Patterson.
The story starts out with them flying into the new and improved erasers that are headed by a big shocking somebody , that I can not say the name of. I think this  sets the whole tone for the story. It draws you in and starts the show just glimpses of what might happen. It shows some suspense, and that's in the first ten pages.
This book can get a little slow in parts; though, not many people would say that because of all the action going on. It's just that all the fight scenes were like replica's of one another. Erasers show up one go's after fang, or max and the six other erasers go swarm the other kids. then the winged kids win fly off and go back to what they were thinking about before they were attacked. That drove me to the point of insanity, so I skipped over the fighting unless I got confused witch didn't happen much.
Okay besides
all the fight scenes being identical to each other I didn't have a problem with the story. One thing I liked about the book was you got to see how they react and think when they are around normal people. They don't think like teenagers. They first day of school they can't even tell if people are being nice or mean to them. witch is all kinds of sad. Max go's on her first date, but is hugely interrupted. There is also something brewing between max and fang, so I am totally happy about that. witch reminds me you get to see fang get into the action a lot more in this book.
In the first book you only see what Max is thinking, and that still true; although, in this book you see a lot more of the other characters and see what they want. They focus on finding there parents and staying safe, but they don't that there actually in a lot of danger just by staying  were they are. Max decides staying with agent is a good idea, so that they can heal and then they would be there way. What she doesn't suspect is that the kids would become fond with staying in a house, and going to school like normal kids. This  bugs me to because max was all about keeping them safe first, and happy later. She is still hurt by Jeb's betrayal, and it makes her turn soft. this gets them into a lot of trouble.  If I was on the run my entire life, and lived one way. If I worked hard to keep it that way then I would not falter just because I was hurt. Witch means neither should Max she's stronger than me.
I give this book 4 stars, and highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good action filled book.

"I checked out your blog."

Oh. Dear. Baby. Jesus. How did he find it? Wait. More importantly was the fact that he had found it. Was my blog now googleable? That was awesome sauce with an extra heaping of sauce. "Stalking me again, I see. Do I need to get a
restraining order?"
"In your dreams, kitten." He smirked. "Oh wait, I'm already starring in those, too aren't I?

"Hello," he said again, placing one hand on the doorframe as he leaned forward. "Are you capable of speaking?"

I sucked in a sharp breath and took a step back. A wave of embarrassment heated me face.

The boy lifted his arm, brushing back a wavy lock of hair on his forehead. He glanced over his shoulder, then back to me. "Going once..."

By the time I found my voice, I wanted to die. "I... was wondering....

Sorry I'm going to leave you with a bit of a cliff hanger

And he was shirtless.

"Doesn't he own a shirt?" I asked, grabbing a spade. "Unfortunately, I don't think so. Not even in the winter. He's always running around half dressed. She groaned. " It's disturbing that I have to see so much of his... skin. Yuck."

Yuck for her and hot damn for me.

"What? I'm not wearing a bathing suit."

"So?" He turned around, grinning. "You could almost strip down--"

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarre connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

 My thoughts

Onyx starts off where Obsidian ends. Katy cant believe Daemon wants to be with her. She also cant forgive him for the way he acted when they met. To me she should have just gotten over herself. She knew she liked him and he was practically throwing himself at her.
Besides Katy's idiot mistake to take daemon when he clearly wanted her this book was just as good as the first one. In this book there is a twist though. Daemon now has to not only prove his love for Katy, but also has to keep Katy away from the new guy that here to win Katy's heart.
I give this book four stars.

"Deal," I murmured
His hand found my cheek, and I closed my eyes. He whispered my name. My mouth opened, but there were no words to be spoken. There was just anticipation and the need to lose myself. At first, his lips brushed across mine lightly, testing my response and the gentle nature of the kiss was disarming. I placed my hands on his shoulders and the tightened when he swept his lips over mine again. His kiss deepened, and I felt like I was swimming in raw  emotion. It was elating and yet confusing at the same time. I kissed him back, and his hands dropped to my waist, pulling  me closer.

Daemon stood, holding my gaze. My whole body tensed as he neared and placed his hands on either side of me. Then he bent over the chair between us, resting his forehead against mine. He inhaled deeply and it came out in an unsteady rush. When he spoke, his voice was rough. “Do you know what I’ve been thinking about all day?”
With him, it was anyone’s guess. “No.”
“Kissing you,” he murmured, his lips moving in a small smile, brushing the skin of my cheek. “Finding out if you look as good in striped socks as you do in reindeer ones.”
“I do.”
His head slanted and his smile was lazy, arrogant. Predatory. “I knew it.”
“I don’t think we got the chance to introduce ourselves the other night at the diner. My name is Blake Saunders.” He offered his free hand.
Daemon glanced at Blake’s hand before returning his gaze to me. “I know who you are.”
Oh, geez. I twisted toward Blake. “This is Daemon Black.”
His smile faltered. “Yeah, I know who he is, too.”
Laughing under his breath, Daemon straightened. At his full height, he was a good head taller than Blake. “It’s always nice to meet another fan.”
Yeah, Blake had no idea what to say to that.

Onyx Moments!

I scooted out of the laundry room and skipped down the hallway, arms flaying around my head like one of the hot pink puppets from the movie Labyrinth. “A scent and a sound, I’m lost and I’m found. And I’m hungry like the wolf. Something on a line, it’s discord and rhyme—whatever, whatever, la la la—Mouth is alive, all running inside, and I’m hungry like the—” Warmth spread down my neck.

“It’s actually, ‘I howl and I whine. I’m after you,’ and not blah or whatever.”

Startled by the deep voice, I shrieked and whipped around. My foot slipped on a section of well-cleaned wood and my butt smacked on the floor.

“Holy crap,” I gasped, clutching my chest. “I think I’m having a heart attack.”

“And I think you broke your butt.” Laughter filled Daemon’s voice.

I remained sprawled across the narrow hallway, trying to catch my breath. “What the hell? Do you just walk into people’s houses?”

“And listen to girls absolutely destroy a song in a matter of seconds? Well, yes, I make a habit out of it. Actually, I knocked several times, but I heard your…singing, and your door was unlocked.” He shrugged.

“So I just let myself in.”

“I can see that.” I stood, wincing. “Oh, man, maybe I did break my butt.”

“I hope not. I’m kind of partial to your butt.” He flashed a smile. “Your face is pretty red. You sure you didn’t smack that on the way down?”

I groaned. “I hate you.”

***

“You said I could stay.” He faced me, his gaze drifting to the bed. The room suddenly seemed to small, the bed even smaller.
“I didn’t think you meant staying on the couch.” Now I wasn’t even sure what id meant. I sighed. What was I doing?
Crossing the room, he stopped in front of me. “I'm not going to bite.”
“That’s good”
“Unless you want me to,” he added with a devilish grin.
“Nice,” I muttered, side-stepping him. Space was defiantly needed. Not that it did much good, heart pounding, I watched him kick off his shoes and then whip of his shirt. He moved to the button of his jeans. My eyes widened. “What—what are you doing?”
“Getting ready for bed.”
“But you’re getting naked?”
He arched his brow. “I do have boxers on. What? Do you expect me to sleep in my jeans?”
“You did last time.” I felt the need to fan myself.
Daemon laughed. “Actually, I had pajama bottoms on.” and he had a shirt on, but who was keeping track? I could’ve told him to leave, but I turned away, pretending to be engrossed with a book on my desk. Chills shot straight to my core when I heard the bed groan under his weight. Taking a shallow breath, I turned around.  He was in bed, arms folded behind his head, an innocent look on his face. “This was a bad idea,” I whispered.
“It was probably the smartest idea you’ve ever had.” I rubbed my palms on my hips. “It’s going to take a lot more than thanksgiving dinner and a Christmas tree to get laid.”
“Damn. There goes my whole plan.”

***

This… this was more than okay. And it took me several tried to speak, because my throat was burning with emotion. “I think I might love you.”
Daemons arm tightened around me as he kissed my flushed cheek. “Told you.”
Not what I expected as a response.

“I think reading is sexy.” Daemon smiled at himself.
My brows inched up my forehead. ”Do you now?”
“Oh, yes, and you know what else I think is sexy?” he leaned forward so his entire face filled the picture and nodded his head toward me. “Bloggers like this. Hot.” Rolling my eyes, I smacked his arm.
