New York City has been decimated by war and plague, and most of civilization has migrated to underground enclaves, where life expectancy is no more than the early 20's. When Deuce turns 15, she takes on her role as a Huntress, and is paired with Fade, a teenage Hunter who lived Topside as a young boy. When she and Fade discover that the neighboring enclave has been decimated by the tunnel monsters--or Freaks--who seem to be growing more organized, the elders refuse to listen to warnings. And when Deuce and Fade are exiled from the enclave, the girl born in darkness must survive in daylight--guided by Fade's long-ago memories--in the ruins of a city whose population has dwindled to a few dangerous gangs.
Ann Aguirre's thrilling young adult novel is the story of two young people in an apocalyptic world--facing dangers, and feelings, unlike any they've ever known.

Review

Enclave by Ann Aguirre was an exiting book that kept you entertained as you followed Duece through her dangerous world. Enclave takes place after an epidemic which led to the creation of freaks or muties. Duece has trained her whole life to fight these creation, and remains faithfully loyal to her governments views. Duece struggles with what to do and who to believe when she gets her new partner. Fades different from everyone else and even though he doesn't try to fit in with the other hunter he is admired. When he tell Duece the is enclave is corrupt will she believe him and if she does how is she suppose to fight against the people who have fed her and protected her from the danger of the tunnels her whole life.

I enjoyed this book a great deal. It was entertaining and action packed.  I like how the book was split into two parts and how you were able to see the changes and struggles Duece goes threw with herself and with others. I give the book four stars.

The horde is coming.
Salvation is surrounded, monsters at the gates, and this time, they're not going away. When Deuce, Fade, Stalker, and Tegan set out, the odds are against them. But the odds have been stacked against Deuce from the moment she was born. She might not be a Huntress anymore, but she doesn't run. With her knives in hand and her companions at her side, she will not falter, whether fighting for her life or Fade's love.
Ahead, the battle of a lifetime awaits. Freaks are everywhere, attacking settlements, setting up scouts, perimeters, and patrols. There hasn't been a war like this in centuries, and humans have forgotten how to stand and fight. Unless Deuce can lead them.
This time, however, more than the fate of a single enclave or outpost hangs in the balance. This time, Deuce carries the banner for the survival of all humanity.

Review

Horde by Ann Aguirre is a fantastic finale to an adventure pack story filled with the strength and courage of Duece. Duece faces every fear she's ever had head on. I enjoyed not only the adventure and heart racing action, but also The emotional rift that Duece overcomes to be with Fade and except her new family. She must make decisions for her men and live with the consequences of her actions. I wish I had something to say that was bad about the book so it didn't seem like I was idealizing it, but I don't. I was very pleased by how everything panned out. I give this book five stars.

Revenge is a dish best served cold.
In Ann Aguirre's Mortal Danger, Edie Kramer has a score to settle with the beautiful people at Blackbriar Academy. Their cruelty drove her to the brink of despair, and four months ago, she couldn't imagine being strong enough to face her senior year. But thanks to a Faustian compact with the enigmatic Kian, she has the power to make the bullies pay. She's not supposed to think about Kian once the deal is done, but devastating pain burns behind his unearthly beauty, and he's impossible to forget.
In one short summer, her entire life changes and she sweeps through Blackbriar, prepped to take the beautiful people down from the inside. A whisper here, a look there, and suddenly . . . bad things are happening. It's a head rush, seeing her tormentors get what they deserve, but things that seem too good to be true usually are, and soon, the pranks and payback turns from delicious to deadly. Edie is alone in a world teeming with secrets and fiends lurking in the shadows. In this murky morass of devil's bargains, she isn't sure who--or what--she can trust. Not even her own mind.

Review

Moral Danger drew me in from the very beginning. How wouldn't you when that's the first line? Its a great new original story that Ann Aguirre can call her own. Edie, the main character, goes from a sad depressed genius to a determined girl with to much loss on her side, but she's able to fight for her new friends against the evil that she unknowingly signed up for.
With this description it sounds sappy, but Ann Aguirre throws in a mix of danger and mythology. It creates a mix of excitement and dread that doesn't allow you to put the book down.  I give this book five stars and recommend every one to read it. And if your hesitant because you think its about some depressed girl that wants to die, its not. Edie quickly learns that things can always get worse and that there are people that like her so don't worry about that.
